Raised or lowered

Was rolling around under the bike, nosing as I want to take the sump crash bars off and paint them as previous owner looks to have primed them, and noticed this. Just wondering has it raised or lowered the bike

Do you have the eye too eye measurement??

MarkXT 16-09-16 18:51

It looks like 13.5cm centre to centre and 16cm overall

Raised or lowered

Yep. It's got lowering links fitted.

How much of the fork stanchions are poking up above the top yoke up the front?

MarkXT 16-09-16 22:50

Interesting, I did not know it had been lowered, wish it had come with the original bits too.
There is 20mm from top of triple tree to the join on the stanchion, if that makes sense

Pleiades, can you give the measurements again for what length links relate to what amount of drop?

You had it once on a thread but i can't find it. I've ordered some lowering links as well.

Yours has been lowered 35mm at the rear and 20mm at the front, although because of the rake of the forks, 20mm of stanchion pulled through the yoke actually means slightly less at the axle.

The stock links are 125mm hole centres.

The linkage ratio is 1:3.47, so an increase of linkage plate length of 10mm equates to a lowering of ~35mm at the axle. Shortening the linkage plates does the reverse and raises the axle by ~35mm.

Thanks very much for that, that's good to know what it's down.
Now, do I leave it or do I look for originals and put it back up, decisions decisions

If you want to go back to stock, the forks are easy - just loosen the pinch bolts and pull them back through level with the yoke top, and I happen to have a set of OE links kicking about in the shed if you want them.

And is it simple enough to do the rears?
