Considering a new XTZ

Hi,

I'm considering to buy a new Tenere XTZ (ABS) soon.
For the last 5 years, riding a big scooter ( single cylinder, 500 cc )
So after riding a single cylinder scooter 70 km a day i can tell that cruising at 130 kmh ( ~ 80 mph ) will consume engine oil ( consuming additional 1 - 2 litter per 10,000 km ).
Will it be the same in the XTZ ?
or asking it differently, after cruising at 130 kmh, 70km per day, after how long the Tenere will start to consume more oil ?

Thanks

No oil consumption for me ... No worries about it I think.

My 2008 XTZ has 61000kms on it and I ride a mix of 130 kph autoroutes and normal roads to include mountain twisties.

Mine will now use about half a litre oil aprrox. every 4000kms. It takes me just half a litre to fill from low dipstick to high,if memory serves me correctly.

Bear in mind theres probably half of this coming out my air filter drain hose as I use this to fill my chain oiler from a little bottle I carry with me.

All this to say with a single cylinder engine...cruising at 5000rpm all day..you'd have to expect some oil use especially with upwards of 60K IMO.

Whenever I start to see blue smoke out of the exhaust then thats an early sign to do something about it.

:)

Mine has got 35K miles on it and uses no oil to speak of. Like Ohlins says, being an early 2008 model (without the improved breather baffling) a bit blows into the airbox drain tube. I did measure it and a constant 300 miles of 70-80mph motorway riding passed about 15ml into the tube - nothing to worry about.
