Hello, Im a man at the age of (omg) 45, from the western part of Norway. I'v been ridin motorcycles more or less my hole life, from 100ccm's at the age of 16, through softchoppers, several XT's and now my main ride is the awsome Triumph Speed Triple R, and the trusty 97' Tenere as the second bike
After some rides in the mountains last summer and this spring, I have started to modify the 660, and I am considering new suspension as an easy solution for the summer, and maybe some engine tweaks and upgrades during the winter, along with a custom built seat and an upgrade on the brakes.
My dream is to ride the Silk Road, but I belive that it wil stay as that...a dream. :-D
Since the bike had a Hepco & Becker top case when I bought it many years ago, I recently mounted a H&B pannier frame system, and hopefully the 35 ltr box for the right side and the 40 ltr for the left has arrived when I come home from work this time (I work on an oil rig in the North sea)

Nice bike. My girlfriend has the older version (3yf) without the double headlight. Where do you live in Norway. I'm just back from a trip to Norway to visit some relatives above Bergen along the Sognefjord.

To Arjen: I live a little south and east of Bergen, in the Hardanger region, s� you where a little further to the north when you where at the Sognefjord. Both places are stunning, indeed:happy3:

I am still at work on the oilrig, but when I get home I plan a trip to the eastern parts of Norway, with pine forrests, bigger lakes and a facinating history,

Anyone that have a good suggestion on a rear suspension, I will change that this winter :)

Preparing for a small expeditionto eastern Norway.
 

While spending too much time at work, while the rain pours down at home,
I have been planning for a small expedition during august, to the woods, big lakes and gravel roads in the east.
New footpegs, tyres (TKC 80) a front fender-lifter (home made) and steel braided brake hoses are installed, new progressive springs for the front fork will be installed next week.


Soon start to pack up the camping gear and get ready... pics will come.

Just had a few days at home with a lot of rain.
But I had a nice little ride on saturday evening, testing the new TKC80 tyres, and new brakepads, levers, footpegs and the new Hepco boxes.

The ride went up in the mountains to look at the dams for the powerplant, but unfortunately the company had put up a gate in the tunnell, so I did not come all the way to the top :icon_shaking:

Best time of year, depends on what you want to see.
In Hardanger region where I live, in may, the fjords are deep blue, as is the sky above, the forrests are bright green, the cherry, plum and apple trees are inn the blossoms. And the snow are still white on the mountains tops, Just fantastic.

But the gravelroads in the mountains are still covered in snow in may and june.
Heres a pic from a ride in late may, where I tried to go up to one of the dams. Not much snow in the mountains this year though

From july, it is less snow and you can ride the gravel roads in the mountains, and find nice places to camp above the threeline.
In the wester part we dont have so many long gravel roads, but in the east theres a lot of them, the terrain is also different, with big lakes and not so dramatic mountains. Heres a pic from a friend of mine, camping at a lake called Soelen lake (sorry for not having a XT660 in the pic)

Been in that area myself this summer and missed my motorcycle a lot. Took the ferry with car and caravan to Bergen and just drove east and the south. But had the MTB with me and got out and looked at some scenery - but could have used an engine..... It is hard work pedalling i,e from Fl�m to Myrdal along the old railway tracks.

Now, my old thrusty Tenere is ready for my trip to the eastern Norway. I have been on several rides in the Mountains lately, along With my friend Stian and his KTM.
