I have been looking at a small wind def. for the xt660x as feel it would be beneficial to me. I see the puig and Yamaha versions but wondered if anyone has any experience of these products or any others that look ok/cool. also any pics would help. thanks

Hi
I am getting a screen for my xt660x next week will let you know how it works |
cool.

Just bought a puig screen today. I was out on the bike today for about 150 mile ride. And anything over 70 and the wind was not good. In some places was slowing me down. So just had to buy one. It should be here Friday. If it works like the small screen put on my fz1 it will make a big difference. And from experience even a small screen on a naked bike really makes a big difference. Will report back once I have fitted it. But I already know the answer. Will up load a photo once I have fitted it. I bought the light smoked puig screen

Was out again today. Really do need something to stop the wind. At 80 to 90 mph it's dam right dangerous. I am acting like a brake. Does anyone know if they do a steering damper for these. I know it's long shot as it's not really the type of bike that has one ,But I am finding the front end is a bit unsafe at the speeds I am coming out of corners really is jumping about and bars are wobbling more than I would like. Think I may have to slow up a bit on this. NOT lol. I think it's time to get the fz1n out lol. Screen should be here tomorrow.

Have you upgraded the suspension?, I noticed a big difference on the stability and hanlding of the front end when I fitted some ohlins springs, changed fork oil and seals aswell. sae10w motul fork oil. Its quite an easy job to do as long as you've got the tools. Took about 4-5 hours for me but can be done a lot quicker if you have a bit of experience. The springs were 100 ish from ebay.

no not yet. i dropped the fork 7mm in the yokes.that made a big difference in the steering. much better. but to be honest i do not keep my second bike long. will more than likely put it up for sale after my trip at the end of may. i have 3 bikes. one that i keep long term (fz1n) and the others i just ride for a bit then sell them on. but i must admit the xt i have is as new and has all the mods and i service it every 1000 miles. as its a single. the day i bought it. i gave it the full works. i have done about 900 miles on it so after the next ride will give it a full oil and filter change. and the next service will be a full one. and book is stamped up on every service. so when i sell one of my bikes i know that they leave me right. every time i sell a bike the first person that turns up buys it. never had someone walk away yet. i only buy the very best. just put new screen on the bike. will add some photos now and some of the bike out yesterday. i bought the light smoked screen did not like the look of the black one.

thanks for the pics mate looks mint!, what did you think of the screen wind break performance, does it do the job well or is there any downside to it as in your neck/head getting the brunt of it. do you have a pc5 dyno fitted?

Hi
Much much better. Was doing 95 mph and just dipped my headband it was so much better. And at 50 to 80 mph big difference. I did not feel like I was the brake. If you ride fast it dose help. But I am guessing when its windy it will really help. But I a happy it's on the bike. Should even hep with mpg I am guessing. No,power commander fitted. Have the O2 and kev mod fitted plus stage 1 an 2 air filters fitted. Done the air box snorkel mod. Also got Beowulf cans fitted. |
