AIS removed (?) but exhaust still bangs
 

Hi :)

My tenere will reach 40k km really soon and I had to do some maintenance today. Valves (exhaust were ok, intake a bit tight) and spark plug... fine.

While I had the bike half naked around the engine, i though it was time to have a look at that AIS system i've read a lot about, because i get some very loud "BANG" sometimes... mostly when riding slow/going off throttle (which is THE moment i don't want to be loud... riding through villages or near other trail users etc..).
But it looks this has already be done !

I followed the tube from the airbox (right side) and get to that assembly (green plug, located with the green arrow)

The tube going down from the assembly is shortened and blocked with some metal part (red arrow)

Then i looked at where the AIS tube is supposed to go, between the exhausts tubes on the front side of the engine: seems there is a plate (red arrow) closing it.

So am I right thinking is has already and correctly been removed? I may buy an aftermarket single exhaust, but i don't want these BANG to get any louder...

bonus question: can i remove everything from the airbox (sealing the remaining hole) to the assembly on my first picture? The remaining parts are useless, and the engine right side is quite cramped with cables and tubes.
