Wiggle in Steering

Hi Guys,

Something new that I felt..I get a slight 'wiggle' that i feel through my handlebars when coming to a stop/riding on a bumpy tarmac surface.

I assumed it was the bearing. Mileage is on 20k km's and I regreased it 5000km ago. its '09 model. It also recently had a service and Yamaha said bearings were all okay.. So this lead me to believe it could be something else.

I have fitted Givi Crashbars about 9months back and all mounts seem tight.

Any ideas?

If there's nothing physically wrong (head bearings, discs not warped, forks straight, suspension in good nick etc.) then try some simple things like adding a little more fork preload in small increments. Also experiment a little with tyre pressures. Do each separately though or you won't know what makes a difference.

Tyres getting on in their life will do this on mine.

Alright. I found the issue. I removed the crash bar system and refitted it with decent lock nuts. The ones it came with had been slowly loosening under the pressure.

Thanks guys! Also, im going to change the front tyre for good measure, its dont 12000km now and although the tread is there, the rubber feels like its glazing.

Cheers guys, safe riding!
