Smashed speedo issues xtz660
 

Hi, I've just bought a xt660z tenere with a smashed speedo. I'm new to xt's so am not sure of the functions that the speedo provides. I am planning to replace it with an after market unit.

Will this be possible? I've read one thread where someone has done this. So I presume I can.

What do I loose? I think I've read that there are diagnostics accessed through the speedo and fuel adjustments can be done through it as well, is this correct? Are there alternate ways around loosing these?

Does anyone have a spare speedo laying around?

Not on the XTZ, only the R/X models. All the diagnostics on the Z are done through a plugin code reader/diagnostic tool. The Z will run perfectly well without a dash in place.

The biggest hurdle to overcome with an aftermarket dash is getting the fuel gauge to work properly.

Thanks. I was reading that one this morning too. Good to know it won't affect the running without the original speedo
