XT660Z Tenere 2010 wont start after valve adjustment
Gday
Well I knew i shouldnt have done it! After a big ride in the desert i decided to pull off the taank pull out the fuel pump to see how much crud was in it. The bike is a 2010 and im the 3rd owner so thinking it has been used in the bush alot there would be crud! Nothing in it!! so back on with the fule pump and though i would try my hand at valve adjustments, i got all the specs from my dealer and i thought all went well.... 1st mistake the old decimal point on the mm guages i have.. bugga off to the shop now the correct sizes. Re set the valve, put it all back to gather and bugga wont start. It will turn over no problem and maybe fire a bit has run for about 2 -3 seconds with no real revs. Things i have checked over: Fuel: checked the pump is running on start up and yes i can hear fuel being sucked up. disconnected both hoses and tested the pump in to a cup, yes fuel comes out. Spark: Brand new iridium plug and checked gap, and the bike fires every so often? Valves: Recked numerous times and went up a measure to see if it made any affect. So i have made a **** up somewhere, unfortunately i didn't run the bike after doing the tank so i cant exclude that item completely. But fuel in tank and pump runs. can anyone shed any light on this problem before i blow another gasket!:071: Oh and i don't have a back wheel on it as i fractured a Excel rim on the trip..:eusa_wall: cheers Crunchie |
