Touratech GPS bracket

Hi folks after having my GPS mounted on the handle bars i needed a safer position so i could still keep my eyes on the road. So I bought this overcockpit nav bracket part no 01-046-270-0 it fits perfectly on a tenere and is rock solid, see the pics. The GPS is a Tom tom XXL 5.3 inch screen for a car used with a waterproof case it does not have a speaker socket or blue tooth but with that size of screen you dont need one ! Well recommended.

The GPS looks bigger than it is due to being nearer to the camera!

After a long hard ride, I have replaced the top bar with a larger dia one about 20mm ish, as the mount for the waterproof case is for a handle bar mounting and tended to move on a bumpy road it now grips the larger dia rock solid. I just used the knurled alloy handle off a scrap screw driver cut it to length and drilled and tapped M8 each end. Perfect!!

I originally planned to mount my Garmin Etrex sat nav in the same place but i'm concerned with the amount of vibrations coming through the mounting bar. The vibes through the handlebars seem to be much less so i'll mount it there although I agree it's safer to have it in the higher position. The touratech sat nav bracket looks great, does it isolate any of the vibrations?

No it does not. But the brackets for the navs do. The have buildin rubber dampers and they eliminate any vibration. I have one myself and I am very pleased with it. They are expensive but worth the money and you can even lock them.

No the bracket mounts solidly but the mount i am using isolates the gps enough. It vibrates slightly but no where near enough to damage the unit . GPS units are VERY tough, my Marine garmin gets massive shocks on my boat and has worked perfectly for the last 7 years.
