dna stage 2

Hi. Im new at the forum and I have some questions about the dna stage 2 filter. I just got the filter and with it the instructions. It says that I have to install both dna (replace stock filter) and the dna stage 2 filter "or engine damage will occur". Is that true? Kev says in the "what hp will you get" section that this is the most hp for your money. Then I wonder how do I know if the bike runs allright? Check sparkplug maybe? I only have Leo Vince and snorkel removed. /Thanx

I think what they are trying to say is you MUST have a panel air filter inside the airbox and not run it with just the DNA Stage 2 cover. It doesn't matter whether the panel filter is stock or DNA, just that you must keep one in place (you'd obviously get better airflow/power with a DNA panel filter. I'd guess they are covering themselves in case someone thinks the Stage 2 cover is a substitute for the actual air filter. An XTX/R would run very lean with risk of damage if you just ran the Stage 2 cover only and also unfiltered air would enter the engine via the snorkel/top opening.

You can check the plug, but a "plug chop" isn't as reliable for checking the mixture as it used to be because modern petrol with ethanol and other additives can give rise to some funny and odd colouring. With a Stage 2 setup, you would definitely benefit from getting some extra fuel in there, either with a Kev mod or PC.

Thanx. Im thinking of getting the Kev mod. Its got to be the best way to get a great running bike for a small buck compared to PC5?
