XT660Z Hot Legs
On hot days the heat from the road goes through the radiator and then the fan blows it onto my legs. It is so hot my left leg got burned. Has anyone found a way of diverting the hot air away from your legs?

Must confess to never really feeling the heat quit ethat much that it burned. Not a big issue in the UK I think.
What trousers you wear will also determine how mush heat you feel. Tighter jeans/denims will transmit the heat much more than loose textile trousers with possible double layers. Loose trousers are better I'd say. More riders will be along soon to give their varied opinions. All part of the forum fun. Sandman. PS. I rode through Almaty last year and hats off to you if thats where you ride most of the time....the traffic was manic!!!!! |
It's not just the radiator, the hot air from the radiator isnt that hot, but it's also passing the headers on it's way to your legs...
Sorry, i don't know of a solution... |
Hot Legs
I wrapped the headers but it did not make much difference. Air Temp of +40C with the heat coming up from the road through the radiator is what does it. I wear decent riding trousers but the air is still bloody hot.
Next step is to make some kind of deflector behind the radiator but there is not much room. |
Riding in Almaty
Riding in Almaty is a nightmare. Normally calm friendly Kazakhs become lunatics when they get behind the wheel of a car. Went across the city today to visit a mechanic in his workshop. Almost taken out twice by motorists who just did not care that I was there. I saw 3 fender bender accidents in a 10km ride, but that is normal here.
Next week heading for the crossing to Kyrgyzstan near the China border then round lake Issyk Kul and on to Som Kul. First 300km tarmac then gravel and eventually off road. Going to be fun. |
