XT660X snorkel removal help please

Hey folks,

My 04 model has a stage 2 DNA filter which was fitted by the previous owner. However the snorkel is still in place. The bike is running standard exhausts although I believe someone has messed with them because they are quite loud.

I do intend to fit MTC cans in time and a Kev fuel mod.

Question,

Is it worth taking the snorkel out for now? If so it looks like is has either glue or silicone where the snorkel joins the air box. Do you just give it a good old tug to pull it out?

The cans and fuel mod will have to wait until spare cash is available. So my question will the snorkel removal be worth it yet and will I notice much dif? Also with not being able to change the fuel mixture will this make the bike run too lean?

Thanks.

Sorry folks the search option has eventually given me the answer. Just give it a good tug :045:

Hiya Terry yes if you want to take out just ease it out I used a screwdriver with large flat edge just to assist didn't take much pressure and came out unmarked.

Regarding the M.T.C I have also put them on this year and both of the Kev mods well worth it.

I have sent off to Andy for the poly cush drives but have heard nothing back yet been a while also. If I don't hear back soon may have to contact him.

Good luck Steve

Thanks for the reply. I will give that a try. Does anyone know of someone Hertfordshire based although happy to travel that could fit the Kev mod for payment? I am the worlds worst mechanic and I will mess it up.

Cheers.

Hiya Terry I am not the best trust me it was no problem to fit. There are descriptions to guide you through. Best way which is what I did was to study first of all (whilst waiting for the bits) what is required to do. If you were in my neck of the woods I would do it for you for nothing it is that straight forward.

One easy bit is a straight forward unplug and plug no cutting at all. The other one wire straight forward cut and join into connector again straight forward. Look at the explanation on what to do and find the wire now then it will be straight forward when you get the bits.
