Overheating problem..
Not posted on here for a while but hope someone can help with a overheating problem.
Riding back home from North Wales today and pulled into a cafe about 30 miles from home. I thought i had a whiff of coolant when i got off the bike but thought nothing of it as it was raining heavy and thought it was water burning on the downpipes etc. Set off half hour later and after a few minutes of riding the water temp water light came on, so i hit the kill switch and pulled over. Coolant was dripping from the area at the bottom of the radiator and plastic expansion bottle cover. It stopped after a few minutes. Ignition off then back on and carried on with my ride home. This happened 3 times and the rad fan came on every time. Coolant only leaked the first time but the coolant temp came on every time and so did the fan. Thanks in advance for your replies.. |

Yes i have a feeling that the coolant was coming from the rad cap, i'll have a look at it today to see if i can figure something out . I'll run it and get it hot to see what happens.

Coolant cap
Hi! Had the same problem with mine XTR, on my bike it was the inner sealing on the cap that was a little like" press mark" in the rubber.
So I went and picked up a new OEM cap /problem salved. All the best! //Jtr 71. |
Careful when you fit the radiator cap rubber gets displaced:postwhore[1]:

Just had a good look at it and at first i thought it was just the cap, about 3 drips every minute. Then i noticed a wet patch on the rad itself that has a very slow leak. So it looks like a new rad and cap..
Can these rads be repaired ? Iv'e had car rads reconditioned in the past by these http://www.motoradsonline.co.uk/ |
