Wales 2015 - Llanfairfechan campsite

It is with great regret to say that on Sunday morning when I eventually arose I discovered that my Primus multi-fuel stove was not in the 'barn', neither was my Ortleib water carrier. Replacement value for the two items @200.
Q. Did anyone see the stove on Sunday morning as I was last to bed @4 in the morning?.
Two lads had come onto the site and were having a beer with myself and Stumpy. One got a bit silly and Stumpy marched him off the farm, I recon it was one of them.
I have never had anything taken either from my tent or nearby in 40 odd years of camping.
The kettle was left so I doubt it would be any of the Pinkertons crowd and I do not in any way expect that it could be any person in the XT crowd.
I am absolutely shocked and dismayed that my space has been violated, it's not so much the cost but the fact that someone has come onto the site and stolen something.
I have to go back and confront those two scumbags as if they get away with this type of behaviour and do it again the site will have a problem. If they cannot ensure that the site is safe it could ruin their business as this information will eventually get out. I have mentioned this to Sam and her husband and they gave me a rough idea as to where they live. They had better get to them before I do!

Not only that I do feel embarrased that I have invited you lot to a site that is not as secure as I expected and if other items have gone AWOL then I feel partly to blame. Who would want to attend any other meets that I might organise if I cannot guarantee some sort of security.:crybaby2:

I just needed to explain what has happened and how I feel.

I big anticlimax to a brilliant weekend.

In fact I am so incensed that I will be going back for some time with my bike in my van and will track those lads down. I will not mention what I have in mind, but I can assure you lot that It will not be pleasant!

Steve.

l8ktm 11-05-15 21:34

So sorry to hear about that Steve, a big downer on an otherwise great weekend.
Thanks again for all the hard work / effort you put into the meeting.

Pleiades 11-05-15 23:05

What a bu99er! I hope you manage to find and exact some revenge on the toe-rags responsible. The last thing anyone wants when out camping is to be living in fear that your gear is going to go AWOL.

maxwell123455 11-05-15 23:21

sorry to head this steve, I never once felt like the site wasn't secure but then again when you've had a few and at 4am plus who knows what goes on apart from security cameras. I just hope the scum that take these things get what they are due.

if it's any use I have an old msr dragon fly petrol stove in Northern Ireland, bought it ages ago second hand, tried it once or twice, has minor leak at a seal of the bottle but just needs a replacement. yours for the cost of a pint the next time we are at a pub

Hedgehog66 11-05-15 23:27

theft

i am gutted for you steve that some scum bag would stoop so low ,but thanks once again for such a fantastic weekend sorry this unfortunate thing had to happen to such a sound bloke ,from the stoke boys

Oldandwornout 12-05-15 09:25

Sorry to hear of your theft , please don't feel embarrassed I'm sure I speak for all of us in saying we all had a great weekend at a great location thanks to you. Don't let some a..hole spoil that .
I have a new Coleman sportster stove you can have for now , just let me know and I'll post it up to you.

Jacques le Roux 12-05-15 10:12

Heck that is so unfair after all the hard work you did, setting it all up and arranging such a brilliant weekend for everyone. May justice prevail. I'd rather not add the words I'm thinking now.

CaptMoto 12-05-15 11:04

SteveD this is a very unpleasant situation you've had to endure, but I read in your words that you mention, who will trust me or one of my organized events... and I need to stop you there and reassure you that no way this could have been your fault.

I was not there in person but for what I have read in the Wales 2015 ride section what you and the lads organized was top notch, everyone has thoroughly enjoyed themselves and for a turnout of 25+ riders, this cannot have been other than a successful event. I congratulate you and so do the chaps that attended.

Perhaps next year, you could speak with the site owners to some sort of loss insurance even if it cost a few pennies more. That way they could refund the value of stolen property and of course they've got to hire the site to more sensible people and not a bunch of piss artists.

Once again sorry this has happened to you and I would suggest to all those who attended if they would be prepared to do a whip around in order to recover the value of 200 that SteveD has lost, 200 less my own contribution of 50 = 150 / 25 that would be 6 per head.

Do you all agree to contribute to this? if so I suggest SteveD let us have his paypal account here and everyone drops him 6.00 and I will contribute my 50

Deal?

l8ktm 12-05-15 13:14

I am also more than willing to contribute.

CaptMoto 12-05-15 17:39

well that's 3 of us so far, where's the other 23?
blowup

Pleiades 12-05-15 18:24

I'm more than happy to contribute. I did tell Steve to make sure he "wasn't out of pocket" before the meet.

I'll put in 25 to make the maths easier! ;)

200 - 50 - 25 = 125

125/25 = 5 a head

Arn 12-05-15 18:31

Really sorry to hear about the theft Steve. It certainly won't stop me from coming along if you ever decide to organise another meet. I had an amazing time!

I'll definitely chip in to reimburse you.

greatescape 12-05-15 18:39

And 20 from me....I wasn't there but have enjoyed hearing about the trip and loved the photos. I can appreciate how much effort Steve D put into it, and it's no good letting the despicable actions of a couple of morons in any way taint what looked like a great event! Steve

Hedgehog66 12-05-15 18:45

steve,s theft

count me in for 10

CaptMoto 12-05-15 18:47

well ok so can someone get SteveD to give us his :paypal: address?

steveD 12-05-15 19:19

Hey guys, just got in and read your thread replies.

I really do appreciate your concerns and offer of money, but my biggest issue is getting my head around the fact that someone has violated my space and betrayed my trust. Those two lads took advantage of free beers and trust, and have not considered the consequences. I will take it upon myself to explain to them in no uncertain terms where they have gone wrong. I will be returning soon and the result will not be pretty. I will be contacting the local police because that site in the village is a real jewel and if they do this again or have done in the past it will soon get into the media and spell the death knell for Sam and her family's aspirations of using the place for campers. I do need to know if anything else was taken as well.
I did speak to Sam and she gave me a good idea of their abode, so I will go back but in my van and resolve this issue to my satisfaction.
It's not the cost although I'm surprised that the cost of the items has gone up so much, but as any of you know me I do like my tea, very much so to deprive me of the facility to make my favourite brew was devastating.
..........I will confess though that I did have a spare, very small stove and gas cannister. So, as they had not taken the kettle as well I would have been OK.

Listen I really appreciate your offer of money to replace but I would rather not accept as then I would have to make cups of tea for everyone I met ever again :118:.

Seriously I will get a result and those lads will rue the day they ever laid eyes on me. I will ensure that all of the local shops and pubs know that they are the local theives. I will make their lives hell and ensure that they have to leave the area.

I am sure that all of those that attended are aware of what has happened and now hope that we can stop addressing this issue and just discuss / report back on the event itself, 'cos I thought it was great and the newbies were good to meet. The rideout was absolutely fantastic, the sight of all you guys behind me, behaving yourselves was brilliant. The weather sorted itself out and the nightime entertainment ..........interesting.

PS We may have to go back to Platts Farm so that Keith and Kevin can get a rideout!

Jacques le Roux 12-05-15 19:56

So glad you found a good excuse to do it again. I'm in front of the line for it. I'll gladly pop a note in the hat if you change your mind

Two wheeled Celt 12-05-15 20:26

I'm gutted that I couldn't attend the event and would love the opportunity to go on the next one if it happens!

Thank you Steve. Even though I was unable to attend.

tenyamman 12-05-15 21:41

gutted to hear what happened SteveD.

I struggle to go this weekend in May each year ( that weekend being my wedding anniversary weekend ).......

But i'd also like to make a contribution if can give me your PAYPAL details......we can't have you going to wales & doing something stupid.

keithy2 12-05-15 22:41

wales meet theft

Hi steve sorry to hear about of the loss of your stove, if you change your mind about accepting our donations you can count me in. Tread carefully if you manage to find the lads its very easy to lose it and get in far more trouble than its worth for 200!
On a lighter note a big thank you for a very well organised meet i really enjoyed meeting you and the rest of the lads they all seem a decent bunch of lads. The Pinkertons how ever were well and truly barking mad!!But good entertainment!

seedy 13-05-15 19:15

I am happy to make a donation rather than see you get into bother with the local "old bill". In my experience these things never go the way you plan and it can all turn against you very quickly. For the sake of a couple of quid just give us your PayPal details and let the matter go? It does not reflect on you or the couples camp site, we're all grown-ups and know that there is scum in every town!

You arranged a great venue and trip (did a **** job about the weather though :-) ), let it go... :lurk:

Geoffdl99bt 14-05-15 00:21

More than happy to put 20 for a great guy
Give us your PayPal account Steve and chalk this up to experience
Please don't go back looking for retribution it never works out the way you think and the next thing you know it's all gotten out of hand, we know about that here in sunny spouse land
You've given us a great weekend So again give us your PayPal account and start planning our next meet
I've even jacked up the back of the X and am looking for wheels/tyres so I can be a proper off roader for the next event

stealthy 19-05-15 20:57

its right up there with the best weekends i had away on my bike, great bunch of lads and a great location, steveD done a fantastic job with the weekend made it really, so dont bother with them idiots and take the money im sure we all owe you something for the wood and other stuff anyway.

and yes steve would be nice to go on a rideout

Yes a truly enjoyable weekend, certainly best campsite we have ever had without doubt.

Hard to find a good site in the Lakes as they are all a little anti motorcyclist however Wales do seem very accommodating indeed.

Yes thanks for that Keith, I do know that Geoff bought two bags as well and one of the other chaps donated 20.

Just for the mathematicians out there:-

One bag cost us 4

Therefore Keith 2.5 bags, Geoff 2 bags +5 bags = 9.5 bags

Now, we were there for 3 nights. Just how far do you think 9.5 bags would go?

I know I spent 80 on bags of wood, which is 20 bags.

Hmmmmmmm another 50 out of pocket, plus 200 'stolen', these XT meets are getting too expensive for me!:010:

Arn 25-05-15 11:44

Hi Steve,

I'm ashamed to say I didn't buy any wood and completely forgot about reimbursing you on the Sunday.

If you can send me some details I'm more than happy to contribute. It's the least I can do!

maxwell123455 28-05-15 22:21

I got 3bags on one night, can't remember which one though as I was slightly emmmm drunk at the time!!!

Now, Keith you know that is not fair, look you have nothing to diss me about, just because we've fallen out, you've got nothing on me, so now either you take that very fact in your stride and act maturely, or continue to act like you are 15 years old and simply lose your access to this forum and the friends you made through here for good. Last chance motel.

Oh and until you think you are man enough to apologize to me, don't bother contacting me or throw these little arrows of wisdom.
