panel codes

Is there a list of what the codes in the panel
of a XTR relate to....

I take it you mean the error codes (rather than diagnostic?)

The error codes are:

12 = Crankshaft position sensor
13 = Air intake pressure sensor (short or open circuit)
14 = Air intake pressure sensor (malfunction)
15 = Throttle position sensor (short or open circuit)
16 = Throttle position sensor (stuck)
19 = Broken or disconnected blue/black lead to ECU
21 = Coolant temperature sensor
22 = Air intake temperature sensor
24 = O2 sensor (<2007 models)
30 = Lean angle cut-off switch (latch-up)
31 = O2 sensor detects continually lean A/F ratio (<2007 models)
32 = O2 sensor detects continually rich A/F ratio (<2007 models)
33 = Faulty ignition
41 = Lean angle cut-off switch (open circuit)
42 = Speed sensor/neutral switch
43 = Fuel system voltage (ECU unable to monitor)
44 = Error writing CO to EEPROM
46 = Fuel system power supply not normal
50 = ECU internal malfunction

Er-01/Er-02/Er-03/Er-04 = No/unreadable communication with ECU, no dash to ECU communication, wiring fault, ECU fault, dash fault

I have all those...
I'm thinking of the codes for the "Co"/"TPI" setting etc and theres a heap of others but what do they relate to...

my bike is playing up,, anything above idle it misses / back fires..
not as easy to start.... No error codes showing on the panel...
Engine management light comes on when the key is turned on then
goes off as normal.. tryed 3 plugs....

trying figger out if it's ignition or injection....

A bit of a head scratcher....

Ah... I see.

As you're a supporter, the easiest way to find the diagnosutic data is to download the XT660R Yamaha Service Manual from this thread:

http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=84

It contains everything you'll need.

You will need a password (which you were given when you became a supporter). If you've forgotten it, them PM CaptMoto for a reminder.

I have that on disc...Have another look though it...

It seems to be running way to rich...
the last time I rode it 3 weeks ago
I did think after I got back that it
got rid of a tank of fuel quite quickly..

So I need to find out whats not working or telling the ECU lies...

If the FI warning light behaves normally and there is no error shown, Id guess youd want to be looking at the things that dont show a code, but can cause poor/rich running/bad fuel economy:
  • Ignition HT side fault (only the primary LT side shows an error), but the HT side can be tested in diagnostic mode D30.
  • TPS bad/dead spots? Only shows an error if shorted or stuck, not if its erratic, got flat spots or giving duff readings. Although it can be tested in diagnostic mode, it only tests for short circuit or if its stuck. Youll need to check that the resistance (max) reading is within spec and also that the resistance changes smoothly from closed to open. Max should be 4.0-6.0Kohm and the range 0.0-6.0Kohm.
  • Fuel pressure out of spec? Too high? Too low? Should be 3.31bar at idle. Fuel pump OK?
  • Injector blocked, dirty, leaky? No error code as such for faulty injector, but can be tested in D36. Check resistance is 20ohm? Run some injector cleaner through?
  • Fast idle/cold start mechanism faulty, sticky plunger, stuck on, leaky vacuum? I have heard of a few of the bodies crack and cause funny running issues.

Clutching at straws really, but there might be something in the above list to make a start on?

Thanks...
I will start going though everything...
fuel pump will be first as I have replaced it not to long ago...
