While we're on the subject of recalls...

After spending a bit of time looking into the current gearbox oil feed recall I stumbled upon another recall from Week 43 of 2014 relating to May 2014 build XTs which seems to have quietly slipped under the radar...

It was notified first in Spain, but it affected bikes sold in the Netherlands, Greece and France, yet I don't recall (no pun intended!) seeing, hearing or reading anything about it?

Have Yamaha quality control all been sacked or what?

Great detective work again Mr Pleiades.

If memory serves I believe your a teacher? If there where more like you around when I was at school then I probably would have paid more attention in class !

Well spotted!

I wonder how you can have a spark plug 6mm too far into the barrel?...Problem with cylinder head machining?....too little threads cut into same?

Weird

:)

Indeed it is strange. It might not even be a machining issue - it could be something as simple as a batch of motors were fitted with the wrong plugs? Maybe they had the wrong reach, or maybe the washers were missing from them?

All the same, it is a bit weird. Even weirder is that nobody seems to have heard about it??

it was an over machining of the head, and it was in total 25 ish affected bikes. and they probably replaced many heads while they were in stock of the dealers.
