Wales 2015 - Riding up from the Home Counties Friday AM
If anyone would like to join me from this part of the world, I'll be heading up from Buckinghamshire on Friday morning.
Haven't really picked a route yet but I imagine Oxford A40 to Burford, Worcestershire, Shropshire, North Wales, Colwyn and down the coast. Looks about 7 hours (NO MOTORWAYS tyvm) with some stops along the way. Anyone fancy joining? Let me know your thoughts, locations or preferred routes. I'm happy going in a group or going on my own. Cheers, Steve. |

I am heading up on Friday with Jaq, let's group up? Perhaps Message me and we get sort some arrangements? Regards Clive |
Sounds good to me. I'll fit in with you Seedy, as long as the last bit is through Snowdonia mountains, a big must do!
|
H cafe, then? :-D

How about 10 then. I love early morning for a ride

My rough suggestions for starters (only A roads)
H Cafe (easy meet and good place to wait) - Abingdon - A34 - Witney - Burford - Cheltenham - Gloucester - A40 - Ross on Wye - A49 - Hereford - Leominster - A44 - Crossgates (near Llandrindad Wells) - Newtown - Welshpool - A483 - Blaenau Festiniog - A470 - Bewtsy Coed - A5 - Bangor - A55 - Conwy. Have a look and modify if great places to stop or must ride roads not on here. |
Just google mapped the above route. Yikes, its 6.5 hours and 238 miles. Motorway chops 2+ hours off this. Should be ok though with an early start I guess.

Had a bit of a play with the logo. My one is blue, so that had to change. Then added my top box and my wolfman softbag, so just about ready for Wales!

I agree, sanity will have to prevail. Looking forward to your sober suggestions on Sunday.
|
I may join you guys if your going via Ross/Herefordshire if ok.
I just need to confirm my start day. |

Hi chaps,
I won't make it on Sunday, I've got two weeks left at work away so I'll be back on 3rd of May. Jacques, to get that travel time down we could maybe do M40 to Birmingham / Stoke and then cut across from there. I do journeys like this every week so 6 hours of riding won't bother me, but I'll leave it up to you. I generally avoid motorways but I don't really mind. |

l8ktm - If I'm leaving on the Thursday that'll be fine. Have you planned what roads / route to go by.

I am not sure whether to let him ride the XT or my just refurbished 1981 Honda CB250RS, I am trying to work out which one will make me cry less if he drops it! See you later Clive |
You need a crystal ball

It's not set in stone as if the weather is good I prefer to take some of the smaller roads. |
Driving back from H cafe this morning. Looks like someone had a bad saturday night, just north of Newbury.

l8ktm - Sounds ok to me. A 470 most of way with the option of smaller roads if time and weather allow.
|
So what's the current plan of action, chaps?
|
Hi Seedy and I have agreed a route. Its the scenic 5 hours from Swindon through the mountains, but with plenty stops along the way. Were meeting at The White Hart, Stratton pub, Oxford Rd Swindon, Wilts SN34JD at 8am! Yes that early.
Next week this time we will be on the road, hooray! http://i1311.photobucket.com/albums/...psrqmivoh5.jpg |
You guys are obviously more than welcome to join us along the way or at Swindon, if thats not too far out of the way for you. The more the merrier
|
Notice were going the Ross route, which should suite Celt. Let us know the best place along the route for you to meet up 2 Wheel Celt.
|
Oh boy, this sounds fun. I'm about an hour and a half from Swindon so looks like I'll be leaving around 6.30am, over to Abingdon and down the A420.
See you there! |
