UFO High black fender and Ausie seat fix
Ive never liked that low Tenere fender much, so couldn't wait to change. After beating my head many times trying to match the blue, I went for the UFO fender. Lovely finish, but the holes don't quite match (Its made for the latest YZ. Fortunately the tow hook makes a perfect template for drilling the holes in the right places ( I just widened the back holes to ensure clearance on the radiator). Its also no problem at speed and so much easier to do any work on that front wheel. I bought a sheepskin off eBay and stitched and glued a 2mm piece of stiff leather, and viola - I can now ride for more than an hour without getting that sinking feeling on that too soft seat (for me anyway). Went down some nice North Hants farm roads but the rain caught me in the end. Was still great fun, and can't wait to go again.

Looks good Jacque, might copy that seat mod! Steve

A lot lot cheaper than a whole new seat. Just waterproofing is a problem. Also makes a good cushion for sleeping

The Ten looking good, the sheepskin seat covers are very popular here in Oz. A mate has one on his V-Strom & swears by it. I used to wear my Lycra cycling shorts under my trousers on my previous DRZ 400 E & could ride all day no probs on the standard seat. Those shorts have a chamois padding in the backside.

I like the look of that sheepskin Jacques, have you got the link to where you bought it.
How did you fix the leather to it? |
Hi Dom, this one came off Ebay (from Australia) and cost me the princely sum of 22! I just cut a piece of leather the same size and slipped it underneath, and after a years use, finally glued it together and did a few stitches to stop any movement (probably not really necessary, as it went fine for a year). I'll do a few coleus pictures a bit later. The manufacturers sticker was underneath, but now Ive glued over this. I'll have a trawl on eBay and see if I can identify it from memory.
PS This is the small version, they also do a bigger one, for armchair comfort types! |
Hi Dom, bought the sheepskin cover from 'teddyx1000'. Just search eBay for his name and sheepskin motorcycle cover. I paid 13.45 for the cover and 10.34 for postage from Australia to the UK. Certainly beats the 300+ for a german saddle. And easy on and off and no change to your stock saddle. The leather was an offcut from a leather worker, which should be less than 10.

thanks for that Jacques, I'll have a look an ebay. Like you say better than the high price of a new seat.

Hi again Jacques Just wondering if you had to pay any import duties as it's from Australia? Thanks again |
