Battery replacement

Hi, I need to change the battery of my 2011 XT660Z ABS
The Yuasa cross reference battery is YT9B-BS but I in my country I can only get the YTX9-BS
The difference is basically the width, being the YTX9-BS 1.7cm wider.
Does anyone know if it will fit?
The OEM battery costs US$ 156 (at the Yamaha dealer) and the Yuasa US$ 60
Thanks
Fernando

1.7cm is quite a bit wider, and I know space is very cramped under the tank of the ABS Ten where the battery sits. However, I think you'll have to wait for someone to come along who owns an ABS model.

They're like rocking horse sh!t in the UK, so hopefully someone in mainland Europe will be able to help? Even then I doubt too many will have changed their battery and isn't a five minute job to take the tank off and measure the space available! Have you had the tank off for a measure up?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

No help on the size, I just went through a battery change on my X and there was only mm's to spare. These things save some KG: http://www.hollyhockbatteries.com.au...Batteries.html

Thanks for the quick response!
I haven't removed the tank yet but would assume there is not too much space... think I will need to do it soon! The difference in prices is significant!
I was quite surpirsed when I removed the seat and saw no battery... then learned it was under the tank
Saludos!

Dude, look again - the battery is under the seat right where you put the key in to open the seat latch and to the rear of the airbox snorkel. (You should have ripped that out by now...)

Changing the battery is easy but I'd recommend getting one that fits rather than one that is too big or you'll end up breaking something. Have you looked for MotoBatt or other suitable brands? Yuasa are good but not worth breaking your bike for.

He looked in the right place - all you'll find under the seat is ABS gubbins ;)

:color:Ah here, how was I supposed to remember it had abs when he said it all the way up there^

Sorry OP, I can't help you. On the bright side, taking the tank off is a nice way to pass an evening...
