I have a 140/80/17 on the back of mine - how wide are you thinking?

I have used 140/80 tyres on the rear.
You cannot go any wider than this without clearance issues, plus a 140 is at the maximum limit for the stock 2.75 inch rim. TBH, even a 140 pulls itself into a slightly odd oval shape when squeezed onto the stock rim. Personally I think, having tried both 130 and 140 TKCs back to back, the bike handles nicer on the road and cuts into the dirt better on a 130. |

       Hi Steve,
A tail tidy makes a huge difference - I don't know what Yamaha were thinking when they put that dogs dinner of a rear mudguard on it. Drop in for tea if you are ever passing... David http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psql2siyqy.jpg |

The larger 140/80should also add I little height to the bike.
I swapped over to a Heidenau K60 scout and it was a much taller tyre than the 130 Tourance it replaced. Probably made for marginall better cruisng on the m-way but not really noticed as the first time I headed out after replacing it the bike was loaded to the max. Mileage was good. It made it to Barnaul in Russia (the long way via. Turkey/Iran/The Stans) and wouldve had plenty to make it back had I not shipped the bike at end of trip. I liked to look and confident feel of the bigger tyre. Just made getting my feet down a little harder. |
