:newspaper: Useless fact of the day: AJP is named in honour of the multiple Portuguese motocross/enduro champion A.J. Pinto. I've ridden a few of their "small" off-road bikes and they are very good indeed. I spent quite a bit of time on an Ultrapassar in February last year. Good quality cycle parts and they clearly now how to make a light and manageable dirt bike. It was only slightly let down by its Chinese-sourced 240cc motor, which was rattly and a bit limp-wristed. The XT engine should fix that... |
Have to admit this looks like a great package and nice to see it will (might) be available locally :happy8:
Basic componentry seems fine ... obviously lighter than the Tenere and hopefully more reliable than the KTM 690 :icon_rolleyes: Price down-under might be a crunch point ... luggage attachment points aren't that obvious in the pictures and I would have been happier with a few more litres of the "precious stuff" onboard :023: But all things considered this might be a viable replacement for the XTR ... well that is unless Yamaha get serious and do an adventure package based around either of their new 700 or 850 donks :icon_wink: Edit: Thinking out loud ... a few more cc's and another couple of horses would be nice ... and I wonder what the electronics package is going to be like ... |
Well the latest on the PR7 is interesting - it won't be fitted with the XT660 engine! The production bike will be fitted with an Italian built SWM 600cc motor (same as in the old Husqvarna TE630).
http://www.ajpmotos.co.uk/ajp-news-article.aspx?itemid=34845 All this adds further weight to the speculation that the 660 Minarelli motor's days are numbered... |
