Crash bars and sump guard

Coming up to 42k service and my OE engine bars and sump guard are looking decidedly tired now after a couple of lie downs and 4 winters.
Are the GiT ones still the kiddies to get or has anything else trumped them?

Hi Tom, long time no speak. I've had the GiT bash plate and crash bar combo on my bike since I got it ( the second one that is) and recently noticed that the bash plate lugs had broken from the alloy. The steel tubing for the crash bars was also looking decidely rough so I had them taken off, the alloy welded and the crash bars shot blasted and repowdercoated, 25!
Black satin, look great and ready for another 20K miles:047:

I would say Tom that the GiT (Adventure spec )lower crashbar/sumpguard is the best out there,i use Sw Motech upper crashbars with mine but did have to weld a extra bracket on the GiT bars so i could use the Motech upper bars.

Rumbux

I managed to get the Rumbux from South Africa, slid about 30 metres down the road once and several offs while trail riding. Eventually snapped the front bar, but welded up nicely. The bike is untouched though. BRILLIANT kit.:007:

I just have the Adventure Spec sump guard (it protects the water pump well) - nicely made and easy to fit. Looks good too!

After posting here I decided to just have that and rely on the sacrificial nature of the grey plastics in the event of an off.

It's covered in this thread:

I'm happy with my Touratech large sump guard. Been fitted six years/32K miles and not a sign of any corrosion or cracks. Gives all the protection you need, is light weight and very simple to drop down to access crankcase oil drain plug, water pump drain plug, oil filter housing and crank nut. It has a flat bottom which makes propping the bike up simple and secure. Optional toolbox is handy too (with a few adjustments!)

It's also fairly cheap at 157 if bought from here, rather than Touratech's rip-off UK shop.
