Found this in manual and if i understand corectly it must read 0-199 in diag mode under parameter 07. On my bike it counts to 999 and after that resests.

07 Vehicle speed pulse Displays the accumulation of the vehicle speed
pulses that are generated when the tire is spun.
(0 ~ 199; resets to 0 after 199)
OK if the numbers appear on the
meter.

Can anyone try what manual said about that speed sensor, in diagnostic mode, parameter 07 is 0 and when i spin my rear wheel it starts counting and must reset to 0 again when it goes over 199 (0 ~ 199; resets to 0 after 199) or i miss understood what manual say's. Mine count's to 999 and then resets to 0.

In diagnostic mode D07 the reading should start at 0 and count the pulses up to 199, then it will start from 0 again.

Quite why yours is going up to 999 is a bit of a mystery?

Just tell me, on the XTR/X, whereabouts on the dash does the counting take place? I have a Z, which is slightly different.

Mine is R but i just tried friends speedometer and problem dissapeared, speed is right and odo counts right to. Friend tried diag mode and he said that he's speedo count's up to 999 to and after that resets. Now i have to find new speedo :( new one is damn expensive. Then i have one question, can i change R or X model speedo units km/h to mp/h or otherwise ?

And does anybody have X or R version and can check this 0-199 in diag mode ? But thanks to all who have replied, very useful forum and lots of help :icon_thumleft:

Took my speedo to pieces, schematics looks ok. Tomorrow i'l go to my friend who knows microelectronics and let him check it over, he saw my speedo and said it's quite simple schematics. Hopefully he's gona find whats wrong with it.

Finaly my friend cheked circuit and all the components and they seemed ok. He thinks that the calculation formula in main chip is somehow gone wrong. I think now i must find new speedo, if somebody has speedo over i'l be interested, metric units kmh.

Today my friend readed the speedometer memory and there were only zeros. After we searched memory file and we found this link http://www.xt-660.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9590 very usefull. We also writed F's to memory and now my odo reading is zero and speedo showing miles :P . Tomorrow we try to write new dump file.

And speedo is working. All so finded a way to get odo reading right, but it needs testing. If someone having a same problem it's simple to fix, hardest part is taking speedo apart.
