From what I understand, the Yamaha engine bars are no longer available. The next closest thing look to be the Puig ones, but having seen the Adv Spec set up, I'd be inclined to just pony up the cash. It's a great looking bit of kit and really nicely made.

I just bought one (new) and fitted it myself which was a bit of a pain... need a long slim extension bar for your 1/4 inch bar to get past the O2 sensor in the exhaust header.

Plus points - it looks great, tough and nothing will damage the water pump.
Minus points - it's noisy! It's expensive.

Is it worth 220? Well how much is a water pump and the Labour to rebuild it?

I did look into this. The outer cover and impeller are the most likely part to get stuffed up in a fall and cost just over 100 to replace (including the relevent seals and gaskets). To renew every component in the water pump, including both parts of the housing is around the 250 mark, and that doesn't include labour!

....................and if you are unfortunate to pull the screws from the engine casing, or damage the engine casing close by, then it's game over.
it is a good, sturdy bit of kit, fits well and does the job well. I've smashed rocks with mine, unintentionally I might add. But then we all have the choice and you just might never need this protection, for me it's just peace of mind.

What about the large touratech one. It seems to cover the water pump, looks better and is a similar price
