OTR Foam air filter

Has anyone fitted an OTR foam air filter to an XTR?

Have DNA's fitted, but I am planning to head out around the Strzelecki and on further. Guess it's a dirt bike background, but I would prefer foam.

The alternative is back to paper and carry a spare? I haven't attacked the airbox or removed the snorkel for the reasons above.

My concern stems from a recent ride where I came across a cattle truck travelling in the same direction on a very dust road. I could have stopped and waited, but I was drawn in by the tell-tale dust eddy's until I was in a dust cloud for a few k's. I also encountered more traffic along the 60 odd km's of this road.

Both filters, as was performance, were noticeably affected by the time I arrived home and there was some signs of dust in the airbox.

I guess the Pipercross is another alternative?

Input anyone?

Hi. Im currently using otr foam filter. Before I had DNA stage1 which was also used in dyno. After changing foam filter I haven't noticed any difference in bikes power, but there is no fine dust in the clean side of the airbox :D so all and all I would recommend the filter.

Im using a otr foam filter without the snorkel witch gives u a 90mm inlet with kev fuel mod and my bike rips compared to stock. I'm very happy no dust great product

Time spent without rod in hand is time forever wasted.

I followed supamanaint's lead and ordered the XTX filter...but was a little concerned that this filter is listed in their road bike section. So, I went a step further and contacted Uni Filter. These guy's were extremely helpful and despite having MADE the XTX filter, were happy to produce a filter for my XTR. Straight from the horses mouth (Mark @ Uni Filter). The foam used in the XTX filter is different and not suited to off-road use. However, they simply make one up with foam suited to the application. Cost = $41 + $7 postage here in NSW Australia. I've ordered (2) for ease of service and given the cost.

The DNA's are great, but... for strictly road use. I took a short detour on the way home yesterday. No more than 10 km's of dirt. Got caught up behind a truck (murphy's law) and by the time I arrived home the stage 2 was noticeably affected.

Uni Filter also strip and foam a filter. So, I plan on forwarding the stage 2 for them to have a look. Only problem is I paid around $100 for the stage 2 and to tear it up hurts.
