I always go for CR high bend... have ROX anti vibe risers..
ROX risers are light years ahead of all others... but they leave
a BIG hole in yer pocket compaired to other types..
They give the option of moveing the bars forward/aft ,up & down...

The Anti vibe riser require a mod to keep them from flexing when
useing them with the standard anti vibe clamps..
but 2 sets of anti vibe rubbers really kill bar vibes..

Good luck crossing the Simpson. I just did some deep sand riding and man was the Tenere a heavy handful.

thanks guys,

I know the Simpson will be hard, had a XR650R already to go but the old age knee couldnt handle the starting. The other bikes crossing include WR450, DR650 and KTM625, the Tenere will show the others its legendary capablities.

:welcome: on board Chris.

Which ever bar/riser combo you choose to go for (and there's a lot of choice out there), you need to factor in the limitations imposed by the length of the stock throttle cables on the XTZ (on how wide the bars are, and how high the risers are).

You can just about use a 30mm riser with the throttle cables as they are, less though if you choose bars wider or with more rise than OE. Clutch cable is slightly less of a problem. You can buy yourself an extra 10-15mm or so by re-routing both throttle cables outside and over (rather than under and through) the oil return pipe that goes into the left hand side of the tank (see pic.)
