improvement onTourance

Hi Chaps

Bike has Metzler Tourances on at moment, almost at end of life, I guess they may be orig fitment, they are good on the road even this worn.
After reading many posts on tyres and looking at many pictures of tread patterns my heart says buy TKCs partly due to the rugged looks alone,
but if Im honest at most my riding is 85/15 and I ride every day in the winter on the roads so my question is, will I really get a much better tyre than the Tourances for my application.

Cheers Spyke

My all round tyre is the Shinko 700.
Rated as a 50/50 tyre
work great on any thing firm to hard
are usable in mud/sand.. but there are
better tyres for that..

For a more roady tyre I use the Shinko 705...

Whilst TKCs are an excellent tyre IMHO, perfectly matched to the XT, if you're 85% on the road and riding/commuting year round then you may find rear tyre wear a bit hard to swallow. I use TKCs and find 1500-2000 miles about the limit of their life on the back (fronts last 6K miles). If you can budget for that kind of wear, then go for it, otherwise there are harder wearing options such as the K60 as mentioned.

Be wary about buying tyres on looks alone - don't let your heart rule your head! ;)
