P-Y6E08-S2 + R-Y6E08-01 MUST be paired with a fuel mod?!
Guys, I'm getting dizzy reading all this threads and it seems I'm going in circles. I've just ordered this two filters:
https://www.e-dnafilters.com/Product.asp?ID=810 https://www.e-dnafilters.com/Product.asp?ID=1211 I intend to mount it on the bike and also remove the snorkel. Do I have to use some additional "toys" in order not to damage the engine or to have this mod working efficiently? Is it ABSOLUTELY necessary to have an Kev fuel mod for instance? Please enlighten me. Thanks in advance. |
I would recommend both a O2 controller + fuel mod or if you have the cash a PCV with Dyno Jets O2 optimizer + a custom map.
The two mods can be bought from this link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-XT...item20e9619ce4 |
Thanks Kev. It's a good hint. It's also good value for money. But next week I intend to leave for vacation on the bike of course and I cannot wait for the package to arrive from Australia. The filters will be here by the end of the week.
My question still stands: is the oxygen controler/PVC absolutely necessary? If yes, I'll posted pone the filters change for later. Cheers, D. |

You could just about get away with snorkel removal and the stage 1 filter (cylindrical one) only and save the stage 3 cover for later. However, you aren't going to gain much benefit from fitting the filters anyway (unless you get additional fuel into the motor with a Kev mod/O2 controller). So all in all, IMO you're probably best ordering the parts from Kev, sticking with standard setup and fitting everything when you get back from your trip? |
Thanks for answer mate. Indeed, I intend to go for aprox. 5000 km fully loaded. Probably around 200 kg load. But I guess I have to go with stock configuration for now. It's my fault I didn't thought of this earlier.
Cheers. |
