Alarm question from newbie
Hi, brought a second had tenere and it has a datatool s4 alarm that was fitted by Yamaha when the bike was new.
I am not fond of alarms and need help to remove it. I know this is a difficult subject due to security reasons. Any help would be great as to who to speak to etc. Its a plugin alarm using the two sockets located under the seat, I have been lead to believe that a blanking plug must be installed to remove the alarm? I have also seen threads on this forum showing pics of these plugs empty on a working bike. does this mean that once a alarm has been plugged in it cannot be removed? Bit confused need help! Thanks Dan. |
All I can say is good luck removing it. I had one on my speed triple and was so glad when it was gone. I took great relish in taking a sledgehammer to the siren.

Why remove the alarm it's there to protect your bike from thieving ned's, it keeps your insurance cost down too

I agree, alarms on bikes are dodgy to say the least I guess due to heat, vibration, rain and all the rest. I had them fitted to an R1 and it would set itself even when I stopped for fuel and then the siren would sound, sooooo embarrasing. VERY tricky to remove. Better just to disactivate it????
