Heading your way soon

Soon to be XT660Z Tenere owner here. Currently riding a BMW GS 1200 Adventure (and a Bonneville Scrambler and a Beta Rev 3), but moving back down to a sensible sized bike!

The BMW is fantastic, but having spent 4 days riding the old military roads on the Italian / French border last year, and living in an area with abundant 4x4 tracks (French alps) I've decided the BMW is just too big, too heavy and too valuable for that caper and that the XT660Z is what I'll get instead.

Had a test ride and liked it and am off on a guided trip to Morocco early May where I will spend 5 days on a Tenere. Unless I hate it, I'll come back and make a purchase, probably from the UK. I'm keeping an eye on the For Sale section of this forum now. A nicely sorted 2009/10 bike with luggage and some performance mods would be ideal.

This is a great site and I've already learned loads about the bikes from reading through various threads. Who wants a beer?

:006: Welcome on board mate.

If you get/When you get a Tenere you'll be able to join the ranks of disaffected ex-GS owners here on :660: like me! ;)

5 days in Morocco

I'm back from 5 incredible days in Morocco riding a Tenere. I've since put my BMW up for sale and will soon get a Tenere of my own. Really enjoyed the bike - a lot!

Scratching the 7 year itch

7 years ago I trawled this website and convinced myself to get an XT660X. Having not been able to get a test ride on one, at the last minute I changed my mind, thinking 660cc would be too small. I bought a Cagiva Gran Canyon. It was flawed (too big, too heavy, and hard to get parts for), Then I had a Versys 650, but the brakes were crap and the suspension harsh. I then spent 2 years doing the BMW GS1200 Adventure thing. Finally, I'm back at the XT660. My Tenere will be here any day now!

I don't mind the journey I've taken to get here - it's all been fun - but I now realize I probably should have bought that X 7 years ago!
