Attaching stickers to the swing arm and forks
Recently purchased some stickers for the bike but I'm having a hard time on getting them to adhere to the forks and swingarm. I've tried various methods of preparation, cleaning with water and washing up liquid, but they always peel off after I short time. Has anyone got any good ideas?

Thanks man. But I tried that and after the degreaser had dried I couldn't even get them to stick

Sticking anything to a textured surface is never an easy task. You could try warming up the surface with a hair dryer (and the sticker) prior to attempting the job. Work quickly as the metal will cool fast.
Don't know how warm it is in your part of the world at the moment, but I've always found vinyl graphics stick best at temperatures above 25-30C. The heat gives flexibility and allows the adhesive to mould into the texture of the surface, filling the pits, rather than just sticking to the high points. |
I always use petrol lighter fuel, the stuff you use to fill zippo lighters
However be aware if you use it on the black plastics it will remove any back to black stuff you've used and will grey them, you can go back over with back to black after the stickers have been stuck on |
I gave my swingarm a proper clean with paraffin / kerosene before I tried to get the stickers on.
Good wash first with degreaser (fairy liquid!) Then kerosene, then a good dry. |
