Lube new clutch cable?

Hey chaps

I'm getting a new clutch cable this week and I can't figure out whether I should lube it or not. Googling it has half the people saying to lube it, and half saying it will be pre-lubed and more lube will just pull in dust and grit.

What do you think?

Speaking for myself and just about to fit spare cables to my bike for an overland trip...

I am going to thoroughly clean the originals which will become the spares, running alongside the new ones and I will lube both old and new.

I thought modern cables had PTFE inners that didn't need lube - in fact quite the opposite as oil causes the PTFE to swell and lose its lubricating properties.

...but I'm not 100% on this.
