another newbie hits the forum

Hi all, spent hours already checking out tons of helpful info, top forum. Just purchased a 2012 tenere with some nice goodies and must say I like it. Have owned 4 x 83 model teneres in the past so I had to have one of these.
Already done the cush drive mod which was needed, and now have semi stripped it down to have a good look at its makeup and to get rid of the crud from previous dirt blasts.
Looking forward to sorting out the engine as no real mods have been done there. Definitely needs tweaking. Am very impressed with the economy but the seat and my ##se after 200ks don't get on at all.
I see it has a nitro x 02 controller. Does this need eliminating or adjusting when adding a Kevs fuel mod and/or aftermarket air filter/s?
Also is removing the snorkel (i.e. cutting it out) as effective as using a DNA filter cover on top of the airbox?

Here is a guide on the various stages of DNA filters for the Tenere and the relevant Dynojet charts: www.captnmoto.co.uk/stats/XT660ZStage123.pdf

Not sure about how effective the Nitro X O2 controller is compared with Kev's or the Dynojet one? Anyhow, leave it in place with the Kev mod, the XT motor runs much better with controlled closed loop fuelling. The Kev mod will deal with the necessary fuelling changes needed to get the right Air/Fuel ratio and make the most out of your aftermarket filters.

Yes, it has a similar effect and is cheaper. The DNA top cover however is better designed for air flow as it has a contoured circumference and will cause slightly less turbulence, but probably not so as you'd notice.
