Exhaust or air filter for low end response?

Hi all,

I've been trawling around the forum and haven't really found a definitive answer to my question:

I'd like to increase the low end response of my XTR, should I look at a new pipe/can or replace the air filters/remove the snorkel?

What do you guys think would give the bike a better low rpm performance?

You did not mention what year XTR you have? All the below mods give more bottom to mid range Torque.

One tooth bigger on the rear sprocket, if you don't do lots of freeway riding one tooth less on the front sprocket..
DNA stage 2 filter.
2in1 pipe
2007> O2 controller
PCV/PCIII with custom map, or one of my fuel mods

Its a 2004 xtr.

I'm looking to get the most gain for least amount of cash, so would that be a Kev mod + stage 1 + 2 DNA filters?

+ a pair of pipes and remember to pull the snorkel out and that combo will more than do.

Thanks the the replies, after reading this thread, I've decided to have a go at a DIY stage 3 airbox!

I'll pick up a kev fuel mod after I get paid and do a little write up of how well its all gone!

Gerry58 24-02-14 14:43

G'day Ashley. It's a 10mm brass ball valve. And the hoses are 14mm. So I just taped it up to the correct diameter for fit. $4 on eBay. Test the tap out tomorrow.
