HELP! Led brake light stays on? Plus immobaliser stays on?

Hi guys,
Brand mew to biking and thought I would have a go at modding my 05 xtx.

I bought a tail tidy universal and have it all fitted perfect, but is connected it up tonight and the brake light just stays on and nothing changes when I use the front or back lever. It's deffo the brake light on as it's very bright.
Also the bike has an immobiliser and since I've connected the light it won't let the bike turn over and just makes a clicking noise (it should make that noise)

I'm so so lost with what to do?

The wires on the xtx are yellow, blue and a black and red one like half and half coloured.

The wires on the led are yellow, blue and brown.

I've connected the yellow to yellow blue to blue and black/red to brown.
I tried mixing around but nothing worked in any other order.

The indicators work fine

Please help someone I'm such a amateur and was so happy that I'd managed to get this done! Until this final tiny step :(

What's the immobiliser light on the dash doing? Is it normal or flashing an error?

Sounds like you might have a flat battery if its just clicking, rather than the immobilser. You may well have flattened it buy connecting up the wrong wires and causing a short straight to earth (a live to ground)?

First thing I'd try is detaching all three wires to the tail lamp, charge the battery and try and start the bike with the tail lamp disconnected. At least then you'd be able to narrow down what's causing the issue. Sort this first.

As for the brake switches (front and rear) not doing anything, I'd hazard a guess that you've connected the side light wire (blue/red) to the brake light circuit of the led lamp unit so it's at its brightest level all the time. Therefore, when you operate the brakes the lower brightness LEDs are illuminating, but you obviously can't see them, so it appears that the brake light switches aren't doing anything. Connect the LED unit directly to a battery using to establish which of the wires on it does the tail lamp and which does the brake lamp, then note it down.

Not sure why your XTX has yellow, blue and black/red wires going to the tail lamp? All XTs have yellow=brake (yellow/green on the Z), blue/red=tail and black=earth.

Thanks for the quick reply mate.
when I use the immobiliser normally there's a slight clicking noise to let me know I need to press the alarm button to be able to start the bike. But this does sound like a louder clicking. (Battery) the dash still lights up. Also there is a little red light with like a backwards F with two lines underneath. I was told this will stay on when the bike immobiliser is on.
Normally I press the button twice for alarm and the bike beeps twice, then once to unlock the alarm and it will turn over but if I leave it for a few minutes before turning it over then alarm beeps once meaning it won't turn over (makes a ringing clicking noise) and the backwards F with lines under it stays in (top right corner of the dash above the neutral. Until the button is pressed once then it will beep and I can turn it over.
(This is proberly a normal scenario for all alarms so sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to teach you haha) I just don't have a clue so new to it all.

I will try and charge it tomorrow, hopefully it will work. Then I'm back to square one haha
I so don't get it.

Just double checked the wires! I'm such a div!

Ita a
blue/red
Yellow
Black

From the bike.

Yellow
Green
Blue
From the led.

Blue/ red - blue
Yellow -yellow
Black - green

This makes it have the brake light on full time, I did try different combos after and that's when the light came on and won't turn over.

Pleiades thankyou so much for listening to my stupidness, with what's you said on the last message can you make it easier to understand if that's possible (for dummies) I.e should I not have used the blue/ red wire :/ as I say I'm a total novice and really wish I hadn't messed with it all now :( knocked my confidence since I thought I had done so well haha

Read the bits I added to my first post ^^^.

I had a little think about it!

Our posts have overlapped somewhat! ;)

From what you say, I am now pretty sure you'd connected the blue/black parking light wire (on the bike's loom) to the brake light circuit on your new LED lamp unit. Which is why the LED unit was at its brightest all the time and the brake switches made no difference (as they would be connected to the low power LED tail light circuit in the LED unit).

Then I guess you tried to rectify it and connected one of the live wires (either yellow or blue/red) to the LED unit's earth wire and caused a short, probably because the earth on the LED unit is also grounded through the tail tidy mounting bolts to the frame(?) So..

(1) Disconnect the LED lamp unit completely.

(2) Check your fuses (replace if necessary).

(3) Charge the battery.

(4) Try starting the bike (hopefully it will).

(5) Establish which wire (blue, yellow and green) is which on the new LED lamp unit by connect to a battery (or use a multimeter). MOST IMPORTANTLY WHICH IS THE EARTH/GROUND.

(6) Reconnect LED lamp unit now you know the correct colour codes of the wires and it's polarity (LEDs will only work with current flowing one way, unlike normal filament bulbs).
