Another blue XTZ on/off the road

Hi ladies and gents,

1st post from me, I am due to take delivery of my new XT660Z tomorrow.

I am from Halifax, West Yorkshire and am keen to meet up for some trail rides wet/dry.

Plenty of info on here with regards to mods etc which is great!!

Ridden a few different bikes in the past but this is my first "adventure" style.

Happy days.

Tom

Thanks for the welcome.

Unfortunately dropped her today, only 80 miles on the clock!

No real damage just bent front and rear brake levers, whoops.

Took some picking up on the terrain/gradient I was on!

Here is the first pic after the drop.

Need to get some strong guards on. I am surprised that there was so little damage without bars etc. Consider myself lucky I suppose!

Lucky escape! They do crash well (to coin a well used phrase round these parts).

Handguards - definitely. You'll get your money back in saved levers, plus they keep your hands warmer and drier.

Bash plate/sump guard - maybe. Depends on what you do, but the OE plastic one does its job to a reasonable degree... and you've got one anyway.

Crash bars - possibly not. As you've found, very little of the actual bike touches the ground when you lay it down, and when it does its only the sacrificial grey/black plastic bits. Save the extra weight.
