Yep. Will measure up and let you know the dimensions...

Pleiades 27-06-14 22:35

Here are the key measurements...

The width across from outer face to outer face is 155mm.

The centre line of the holes for the silencer mounts is 10mm lower than the centre line of the two subframe mounting holes. (Mine has captive nuts on the inside of the silencers mounting holes which you could tack weld on, but not entirely necessary.)

You will need 2x 35mm spacers to go between the bracket and the silencer/tool tube strap mounts. Also possibly 10mm spacers to go between the bracket and subframe mounts, but that is kind of adjustable depending on how far back/forward you want it to be.

The rest of it doesn't really matter too much, whatever you feel you need to do to get the required strength. What size bar are you intending to use?

If you need anything other dimensions, just give us a shout.

Thank you for the dims, not had the time to even think about this! Might squeeze in some tinker time later today if everything goes to plan.

Not regretting the decision to get a new exhaust, has improved the bike in sound and performance. Any doubters just do it!

Here is a doubter... I like the looks of the Exan, and did already the kev-mod and o2 modification. I am not a good mechanic, but it looks easy to fit to me. The bike i own is a ABS version, would that be a problem?

It's easy enough to fit with basic tools and skills. As has been mentioned before, the hardest part is removing the standard silencer.

The exhaust system is the same for both ABS and non-ABS versions of the Tenere so you you shouldn't have a problem there either.

I'm thinking of buying an Exan oval x-black in titanium; is it road legal and will it pass a UK MOT?

Hi Pleiades, great write up, can looks excellent as does the tube. Like you say you can reach into it. I remember a guy at the Adventure travel Film Festival, he had to get a long stick from the hedgerow to fish things out of his tool tube!! An expensive one at that! As I say, great job, cool looking Tenere you have there. On a different note..how come you can post your photos that way?, I can paste a link but it's so much better when the bloomin photos are just there!

Pleiades, where did you get the bracket from? It looks like the bracket from the Akrapovic exhaust.

One option for me would be to check if Yamaha can supply spare parts for the Akrapovic exhaust, but then i'll have to ride all the way over to the dealership :sleepy3:

Well spotted... it is!

There's nothing wrong with the Exan bracket supplied which fits to the rear upper pannier frame mount. However, for fitting a tool tube, a two-sided mount is required and it really needs to be further to the front of the bike so it can support the tool tube in the middle.

I was lucky that I happened to have an Akra bracket to hand, but it wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate something similar. I had to make something to support the front end of the tool tube anyway. Just saves a bit of time if you recycle old stuff!

AFAIK spare parts for all Yamaha approved Akrapovic exhausts are available to order from Yamaha dealers.
