I have a spare one and plan fitting it to the 660z . Where's the vac take off ? and where do folk mount the Scottoiler ?

if you have a look at my review here: http://www.redbikejohn.com/Tenere%20...s%20Review.htm

you'll see the pipe and how i located it.

Zip tied mine to the frame, just above the dot 4 reservoir.

Didn't need to take the tank off to fit, you can get to the vacuum pipe dead easy, little bit of fiddly work to route the outlet tube past the swing arm joint and shock, but then it was easy to fit.

Also drilled and tapped the swing arm like John's.

Cannot recommend one of these enough.
Slight adjustment in my chain, once every 2-3,000 miles or so.
It's always clean and well oiled.
Does fling a bit onto my pannier, though.

Pleiades made a mod for that somewhere, iirc.

Have fun fitting it, shouldn't take you more than an hour!

Scottoilers are worth their weight in gold - I got 24K miles out of the OE chain and sprocket set. I have the e-System, which is better and more clever than the the V-system, but not better enough to justify the extra outlay. Fortunately I aquired mine for nothing! :D

"Fling-Flap" mod is a standard old trick I learnt from my courier days in the late eighties. Currently it's made out of flashy aluminium, but can be made out of anything. I recall that in the old days I used ice-cream tub lids, and just cut a new one every time one fell off! Still, whatever you use, they do work - fling reduced by 90%. The "Fling-Flap" is held in place with a single bolt through the top of the chainguard.

I've also fitted the eSystem. Wanted a system with a pump so the viscosity of the oil didn't have so much effect. Have been happy McCoi.de but could'nt find a place to fit it hidden and did'nt have the time to fabricate a box/tube to put it in.

So i took the expensive route of the eSystem

Right now i've just put the thin metal bracket on the axle on the inside. The swing arm is so soft that you can eaily move it that bit extra apart.

I plan to fit a shark tail in front of the sprocket and will move the the tube to that so i don't have to fittle with it when taking the wheel off. I also plan to feed the tube all the way inside the swing arm. Right now it is on the inside where it won't last because of debris from the tire. On my last rides i've used a small cobber tube along the swing arm.

The container with the pump is just ziptied to the frame. it looks clean enough by itself, but the 3 tubes on top is a bit of a mess optically.

Pro (compared to McCoi)
+ Compact design with container with integrade pump
+ Simpel connection. Just connect it to power
+ On/off based on vibration so no need to find a tacho signal or place a reed contact by the wheel

Con
- Need power all the time to remember settings. Imho foolish, since everyone than can change settings when parked unattended. And even trough it does now draw much power it still consumes some ...
- the oiling is constant x seconds between drops and you have to change it yourself. The McCoi has a rain sensor so it provides more oil in the rain, and the oiling is also speed dependent. It increases the oiling at higher speeds.

I've reduced the oiling to 90 seconds between drops and it still spills oil when parked (from the oiltube). On the mccoi i did not have any drippings from the needle, but sometimes a bit from the fron sprocket. On the xtz750 oil that was flunk off the front sprocket stayed there until it was put on the sidestand. Then it could run/drip off ...

:toot: I thought that would tickle somebody!

Used to be the "Fling-Catcher", but "Fling-Flap" is much more catchy I reckon.

The display showed the container as full but it was getting close to 75%. There was no air in the tube above so it seemed that the oil was just being drained out by gravity.

After some mail and pictures with scottoiler they decided that the valve had to be defective and they sent me another one.

Fitted it last Monday and so far it now looks fine but the temperature has also dropped a bit. Last night the temperature was just above freezing and i had the heated grips turned all the way to 100% so thankful i only had about an hour home and the temperature stayed above freezing. Some other areas close by had accidents caused by ice on the road. Won't be long until i pack it up for the winter. The taxes on vehicles are very high in Denmark and the bike is so new that i won't be riding it on salty winter roads. I've done that before and the corrosion on aluminum can be severe after just a few years (and so the value loss). I paid close to 10.000 GPB for it used and 2 years old - a new one is close to 13k (And got ~3333 for my 20 years old XTZ750 with a lot of spares. So if the bike is kept in good shape it will also retain a lot of its value.
