Hey Pleiades,

Do you have any links for buying the waterproof socket you have fitted?

Been searching hi and lo for something like that.

Many thanks,

Sandman.

There is no "Quick Lock", or "Rapid Trap" (or whatever jargon other makers use for their quick release system) available from Holan.

However, it's very simple and takes less than a minute to remove/fit a box with the standard puck type system, and that's without rushing. I dare say if you wanted to do some F1 style pit lane drills, you could probably get very quick at it! ;)

Ha-ha...thats good. A minute or two I guess I can tolerate....:eusa_whistle:

Hi Pleiadis,

I wondered if you would help me. I have purchased exactly same Holan II paniers directly from Poland like you really impressed by this article and the finished product. I have fitted the rack and now about to drill the mountings.

Could you possibly describe or take a quick picture to show me where best to drill and mount. I assume you are happy with the position and can passengers still sit ok with the chosen posn?

Was the box mounted at an angle to the frame loop or parallel for example? and how far back forward up and down ?

Mant thanks KTMCAL

I mounted my boxes parallel to the frame hoop's top. I think you'll be able to gauge the positioning from the photos below. Sorry they're a bit rubbish but a did them in rush when I got in from work. Also I should have put the ruler up against the pucks, not the stiffeners! Anyhow, they should give you a rough idea. The way I have them mounted is fine for pillion riders.

The key factor in mounting them is to do the bottom two pucks first. Double-sided tape is a big help with this. Get someone to hold the pannier up to the frame and position as you require, then stick the two pucks in place. Then drill and temporarily mount the pucks (without the stiffening plates as they tend to confuse things). Then the pannier can be lifted back up and will support itself while you stick on the upper two pucks. The rest is self-explanatory.

It is worth noting that you want to get the pucks to fit as tightly as possible inside the hoop when initially mounting as the paint wears on the frames and they will get a tad looser over time.

BTW - All the photos below are of the left hand pannier.

Thanks for mounting photos

Pleiades,

This is fantastic and has taken away lots of the stress about starting this job. I will post a pic when done in appreciation
