Kev mods
Morning all.
Please cna somebody very simply and quickly explain what the mods are and what the effect is. I have a bog standard tenere and might have a play with it but i do not want to mess up the MPG in any way as i use it everyday for a long commute. I get a lot of surging when cruising around 4k and wonder if a mod will fix it? I have tried to go the the Kev mods section on this site and it says i am not allowed. Any ideas please. Mike |
I have a few mods Mike.
Fuel mod: adjusts the A/F ratio in the open loop mapping, can be used to correct the lean mapping on a standard bike or with DNA 1 to 3 filters or all filters + pipes. O2 controller: maps the closed loop circuit, most effective mod for low rpm control for 2007 onwards XT660's, eliminates most of the surging caused by the O2 sensors emission control mapping. I would recommend both mods to map the bike correctly to get the best results, if money is a problem I would start with the O2 controller + twist grip mod for your surging. Fuel mod http://www.xt660.com/site/node/136 Fuel + O2 controller, can be bought by PM from a discounted Ebay price, or from EBay if you really want to pay more. http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/7416kevin...p2047675.l2562 O2 controller same as above cheaper via PM. |

Hi Mike, I've just installed the two Kev Mods to my Ten, you can read about them here: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=21137 In short, the single greatest thing you can do for your bike is to install the O2 sensor mod. Will smooth out all your low-end. The next step will be to swap the air filter and cover, let a lot more air in. For this, you'll need the Kev Fuel Mod so you can adjust the A/F mix properly. Then, you'll want to do something with the exhaust to let all that gas out again! Follow that with the cush drive rubber mod and a properly tensioned chain, and you'll have yourself a bike that can tickle along at 30mph but responds properly to acceleration, roars through the gears and doesn't stop pulling til about 115mph! Estimated increase of about 6 bhp... and I only spent about 200... Beautiful! Hope this helps, Steve. |
