Hi there

I joined this site - as I have the same engine and lots of bits are similar. Hope - to learn and share info.

Have a 2006 Yamaha MT-03 with 7K miles on the clock.


Found out from one of your members that our engine is apparently cast at the Motobecane works in France.

Also found had a look underneath my bike and I have a Lafranconi Italian back exhaust box. Not sure if the XT original cans are also Lafranconi

The battery is the only thing I don't like - its right underneath the petrol tank.

Welcome on board Bernard!!! As far as I knew the XT660 engine is made in Italy as Yamaha purchased the Minarelli factory and the bike is also assembled in Italy, you can see loads of European bits (Acerbis, Brembo). The MT03 is still popular here and as you mention they share loads of bits with the XT660 so you will loads of useful info on this site. Enjoy!!

I've got an MT as well as a Tenere. The MT's great fun - shame I only rode it for a few weeks before pinching the engine out of it for the Ten'. Looking forward to getting it back together.
