Xt660Z and why I kissed a piece of metal
Well I thought it about time I said hi, been gathering info and tips, after I bought a 2009 Z with 9000 miles on. I really love the bike, after coming from a 20 yeear old TDM it feels awsome and after I sorted.the soggy suspension with a Hyperpro spring kit it really does well, offroad too :-) mods so far are
Leo Vince exhaust Stage 2 airbox mod, made on my lathe HYPERPRO spring kit from OTR-PERFORMANCE OTR-PERFORMANCE pannier rails and pannier mounting kit D.I.D Xtreme chain and sprocket kit. ( I fitted this after the oem chain was so shagged after 10.000 miles that it jumped the rear sprocket at around 60 mph and got wrapped around the front sprocket, after being recovered Home I started to remove the sprocket cover and found a case saver had taken allcthe brunt and had left.me with no damge, I was so hapoy I hadnt killed.the bike I kissed the buggger chain lube and all haha.) Also fitted is a SKIDMARx tall screen im 6ft 3" And a tutoro chain oiler. Bar risers 1" Rentahl fatbars Adventure spec engine bars and bashplate ( well used) Wide footpegs, for laning. Bark buster hand guards. And my 60 litre Home made steel panniers, made from 1mm plate with full length hinge and lock. Cancbe removed and used as a paddock stand for the xt theyre so strong. :-) and with mounting kit they weigh 8kg each Heres some piccies. http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...psc7e958ec.jpg http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...psd6c05d50.jpg http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...psef9bee06.jpg http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...psb98f0a44.jpg http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps1839ef9a.jpg http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps5abc2db1.jpg I live just outside Rochdale so if anyone fancies a ride out let me know :-) Cheers jon |

They look a lot wider than they actually are lol, theyre only a few inchs wider than the bars but filtering can be a pain, but only have them on to do the shopping and when I need them, theyre good wheelie ballast too ;-) they, also make excellent crash bars when laning and I dnt have to pick the bike up from the floor lol. |

I do get alot of comments with the panniers, they are on the large side but I dont have any problems with them. Couple of pics from today of one being used as a mainstand when I fitted a new rear tire. They realy are Swiss army panniers, you can sit on them when camping, cook on them, eat on them, put your bike on them. Dimensions are 300mm tall 300 mm wide 600mm long. http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0c69750d.jpg http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...pse26c635d.jpg http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...psdf94087b.jpg And they were cheaper than buying a mainstand :-D |
