Stella Alpina rally
Anyone going to the Stella alpina this year? I'm going for the first time setting off on the wednesday 10th of July and staying somewhere near Troyes then on to Bardonecchia for the event then after that up to switzerland.
Just trying to plan a route now does anyone know a good route to go from Mandello del Lario into Switzerland to Lucern was thinking of going via the Stelvio pass but seems to take me out of the way, this is route I've planned so far anyway http://goo.gl/maps/ICVZN |
James,
See you there, are you staying at the Bokki camp site? Leaving on the 7th and going down through Belgium/Germany/Switzerland. Will be doing some of the trails around the area also. Not sure about the way back yet..... Nick. |
Likely maybe.
Hey Guys,
I'm a likely maybe :confused2: as I will be in the area at the time (well, 600k away) and a local mate is a likely maybe - hence my status. He has the plans, I am simply following him :iamwithstupid:. That means that I have no idea where we will be camping either. Oddly enough, I just rode through the region today heading north east and there were plenty of adventure bikes around. James, you could do a lot worse than head due north from Mandello del Lario around Lake Como through Chiavenna and over Spluegen Pass into Switzerland. Amazing bit of road over the pass - not sure of a decent route from Spluegen to Lucern though. Cheers, Dale |

Hey Irishguy - I saw you guys departing Bardo on Sunday, luckily you , otherwise I would have to rant :soapbox:. I was parked on the side of the road (watering a tree) along with a Bavarian Meat Wagon (BMW with fridge, seriously) at what appears to be a temporary bridge with roadworks (just after the sports fields) on the exit of town.
I only saw a couple of Ten's at the refuge and one Spanish XTX running TKC's that took the liberty of getting a puncture :sad9:. Quite some hours later, it looked to be resolved when we left the refuge. I didn't see any R's on the mountain. Many nice blokes and bikes made for a great atmosphere - especially randomly dropping into (invading?) people's fires until all hours talking BS - a great laugh. :applause: Cheers, D |
Lol, I remember seeing you ;-)
Three of us got to the snow field, one of them being Brucetopher1 off the forum here on his black R. We saw one other R on the mountain but it was being pushed downhill... I have a stack of video to process and will be putting the best bits up on You Tube in due course. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motoireland/9324831002/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/motoireland/9324831002/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/motoireland/9324831002/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/motoire...57634713312122 |
