All my scotoilers have been at about 45 degrees and all have worked fine for tens of thousands of miles. I don't even bother priming on first fit or if it runs dry. Go for a ride with it turned up a bit when you get back the delivery pipe will be full. Top up the RMV and set so it drips about 1per minute.

If I hadn't fitted my on the exhaust bracket it would have gone on the left hand down tube as described in the previous post. Another place would be on the left of the top yoke.

OK. Maybe they work at 45 degrees, but I had one on my Street Triple for a week, with it almost horizontal, and it was getting full of bubbles. I just took it off, and that's the unit I am considering putting on the XT.

The only way it could get bubbles in is if it's broken, the feed pipe wasn't fitted securely to the RMV, or if the delivery end of the RMV is above the oil level and I thought they had a device in there to prevent that until virtually empty. Try emailing the company they have a reputation for being really helpful.

Funnily enough, I took a couple this afternoon to add to the previous post, so ...

Breather secured somewhere under the tank, vacuum pipe to the throttle body, delivery tube to the swingarm - nice short runs everywhere.

(Edited to add: it's secured to the frame with two cable ties. What you can't see is a third cable tie, behind the reservoir, which binds the other two together. They slip off otherwise.)
