       Those pegs...

People seem to buy those cheap ebay foot pegs...
I would also like to do that upgrade. But How do I know what to buy? I have found a par that looks like it could fit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990-1997-.../370740564454? Do you think they would work? |

Check this Ebay link out. Or search Ebay for YZ250 foot pegs and look for anything that fits 90-96 YZ250. The IMS foot pegs are made from stainless steel and are very good quality. |

Can you provide some information as to where to drill the hole for the spring? Thanks, Dale |

It worked just fine on my XTR -07, little bit tricky but it,s ok now. Yes could be a little lighter but pivot pegs are to expensive so I rather buy something else for the money I save. I would like have the same ZIP Ty pegs I had on my KTM690 EnduroR they were perfect when I rode Tuareg Rally but there are non for XT.

I have both PivotPegz and these cheap eBay ones. I like the PivotPegz, but they are around 10x the price of the eBay ones, I don't think they are anything close to 10x better. The quality <eBay ones> isn't brilliant, but they are comfortable and functional, and cheap. You might just have to re-paint them in 18 months or so. Originally I had the eBay ones on the Ten, then got a great deal on the Pivotz, the eBay ones are in a box in the garage... someday I'll get around to eBaying them. |

Just a thought..... When i first fitted mine i could barly make them move/pivot upwards. What i did was slightly file down the end (or edge?) of the peg - the bit the sits against the foot peg holder bracket. I'll try and take a photo. |

       XTR Different?

       Thanks for the responses chaps.
I have now done a little more research to confirm that the XTR and XTZ have very different springs. Ten springs fit a wide range of Yamaha bikes, per the list in the link http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co...%3C%3C55&uid=0 Whereas, the XTR only fits XTR/XTX and in some cases, by model years. The upside is that the Ten's springs are under 3 as opposed to the R/X at over 7! I will order some Ten springs and hopefully solve my problem :) For R owners reading this, the opening of the R footpeg, near the frame is quite closed [refer picture] so the spring ends resemble more of a "U" shape. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Z...kf74211000.jpg The replacement footpegs have a wider opening and the spring no longer has a "ledge" to rest upon - therefore, not creating sufficient spring tension. |
