T61 and T63 tyres on an XT
has anyone tried T61 and T63 tyres on an XT660z im thinking of trying them instead of TKC's
|
hi I'm using the t63's at the moment they are pretty good on the road, gravel not bad, mud they clog. they are quite similar to tkc's in the way they work, though they wear quicker.
expect about 5-6 k from the front and about 3 from the rear |
Mitas E09 rear and Metzeler Unicross front are my choice. 5K from both no probs.
|
Just gone with E09 rear and I got a E10 front . see how I get along with them. I had a T63 previously and thought it wore quicker than TKC but was a tad better on off road grip
|
Wide, that is interesting. I am about to order a pair of E-09 Dakar (front and rear) and I can't tell whether the E-10 is more road orientated than the E-09 or the other way around.
Do you have any idea which one is more road orientated? |
The E10 Im saying is more like a TKC, and the E09 being the one to go for a more off road bias. I do mainly rocky lanes with not a lot of mud so thought this combo suited me better. Mind I have had delivery of the tyres and I am surprised how stiff the bead wall is on these.... could mean interesting trail side puncture repairing !!!

Thanks mate, I appreciate the info. I'm looking for a tyre for Morocco and I have read some very positive reviews about the the E09 and E07 for longevity so heading for the more aggressive of the two. Whereas, I have not heard of the E10 before now. I have also read about the stiff sidewalls on both of the above, has me a little concerned for fitment and trail repairs :o |
Would like to add I ordered a 140 rear tyre and it looks wide. I am hoping it will fit within the swingarm. Before I go to the hassle of fitting.... do people know if a 140 tyre fits the Ten ???? Im sure I bought it as Id read some saying a 140 is a good fitment but for the life of me dont know where I read it now. Hoping Ive done the right thing:tongue3:

hi Wide, It should be alright, I have run 140 michelin deserts on an 18'' rim and mitas co2, fits the swing arm fine, the chain guard might be slightly rubbed tho!

Cheers
