Lakes V - Chit Chat

Good to see people showing an interest - thank you, it the people that make the weekend.

A few surprises though;

Enduro374 - I thought it clashed with your sailing thingy ?

Pleiades - How.... how did you manage that ? My missus can hardly get finished at 3:30, never mind a day off..

MITCHELL777 - Congratulations, you are the first Lakes virgin to sign up.

Jimf - clearly we didn't make it extreme enough for you... even surviving Keith's smoke signals in Dufftown, or maybe you're going for gold in the NavXT ?

SelinaXC and Omanist - It's testament to the weekend that you guys have chosen wisely...... Maybe get them cats dirty this time???

The Irish Contingent - you guys did rather well in 2011 I recall, another father and son team this time ? or pitting your wits against each other?

Sadly no day off - I will miss the Friday:022:

I'll be with you at some unearthly hour on Friday night, stoked up on coffee, red bull and Kendal mintcake, and looking like a zombie!

I said I'd get there, even if only for a day, and I'm damn well going to do it - even if it kills me!

That's the spirit same spirit that many others have, in fact anyone who attended in 2011, then came back in 2012.

As many will recall, 2011 was the year of the 80mph winds down the Ullswater valley, a destroyed tent and that river that almost broke it's banks....

Well today it seems we will be leaving to Austria on the Tuesday evening following the Lakes, so this may mean I struggle - despite my initial excitement!

Will see nearer the time, but would very much like to attend even if it's just for a short time!

Any chance I could rent some sleeping space for a night?

Dick Dastardly 11-01-13 17:11

I felt like I was in the same tent as Keith last year............

Onanist 11-01-13 20:17

I'm planning on resurrecting the Super Off Road TDM850, just to crash a lot off road for the weekend, but if the dreaded "I can't be arsed" kicks in it will be the Tigger (not actually cleaned it yet since buying it).

The plan has yet to be decided ;-)

Days booked off work and hopefully no 80 - 90 mile an hour winds and cancelled ferries this time, the return ferry crossing when it did happen was the worst I've ever been on lol...

i enjoyed the navXT i wont be rushing round, was too busy enjoying the scenery, hopefully i wont be offshore for it, thats the only spanner in the works. maxwells burger burning at the lakes prepared me for Keiths smoke signals, toughened me up a bit!]

Onanist 04-04-13 21:02

Be warned everyone, while in winter hibernation, both Selina and I have been spending our hard earned cash.

We both have these mounted on our lids....

Forgot I had those pics lol

enduro374 05-04-13 08:42

I don't mind cameras, just so long as they work only in sunshine!

Bit too early yet for long term forecasts, so fingers crossed with the weather and I don't plan to rush about either (this time).

Shhhhh the sun is a timid creature and will go into hiding if you point it out too much!

midlife crisis 09-05-13 13:14

I'm on my way!

Onanist 12-05-13 17:52

Yet another great weekend, thanks to GULG, Keithblade, Stumpy & SteveD. Sorry we left on Saturday but we had suffered constant rain from the Wednesday. As usual a great do with great people with constant laughs.

Chris1811 12-05-13 18:41

Just got back home and unloaded the bike. Thanks for a fab weekend as allways and big thanks to all the guys for organising/providing bits and bobs.

Really enjoyed getting muddy out on the trails on Friday and found out that I am supprisingly good at this new sport of 'Hike A Bike'.

Looking forward to seeing piccies and videos from everyone.

Here comes the 'What have a learnt this weekend???' section-

'Man Meat' apparently CAN be shared amongst a group of burly bikers and be mightily enjoyable!

Midlanders have become the official North to South Language translators

And StumpyDave needs B**ch Slapping repeatedly apparently. :hahaha[1]:

Cheers all.

maxwell123455 12-05-13 19:03

Cheers everybody for another great weekend! the sun even appeared for a bit! Also cheers to dad aka Steve D for helping me up some of the trails :) Thanks Midlife Crisis for the introduction to Man meat a previously unknown concept! I am still laughing thinking of it!
Jim.

Pleiades 13-05-13 23:51

The 300 miles there and 300 back in driving rain has finished of my chain and sprockets, the suspension linkage is squeaking like a basterd and the cable ties gave up holding the mudguard together somewhere on the A17. Bothered? Not a bit – The sorry looking piece of filth sitting in the garage waiting for some TLC is testament to a thoroughly enjoyable weekend!

I thank you all. :)

Pleased you made it back OK. Next time we'll take all of your boxes off ply you with 'man meat' and take you down some 'man lanes'.

Until next time :team[1]:

midlife crisis 14-05-13 11:10

I've been getting some strange looks on my commute through West London this morning. The twisted gear shifter and brake peddle aside this annoying squeaking from the front is really pretty conspicuous. Like yer man said though, "Sorry? Not one bit."

Can't thank you guys enough roll on 2014 (I'll bring the Man Meat)!!!
