X-Racing silencer

Hi there

Can anyone tell me what is the diameter of the noise reducer at the end of an X-Racing silencer meant for Tenere? I've lost mine and after various "African fixes" I've decided to have the whole thing welded to the right size so no vibration can kill it anymore.

EDIT: I mean the titanium oval silencer.

OD of the baffle is 28.1mm.

I use a lock nut on an extended 4mm bolt to try and hold this in although I hardly ever have it in. I've lost it a few times and each time managed to turn around an go and pick it up. Rather entertaining once on teh A10 coming out of London though!

If you want a picture of the baffle then drop me a pm.

Length of the 28.1 diameter is 24mm then it steps down to 28mm OD for 80mm.

Cheers

Thanks a lot man! I didn't remember the original thing being that big. I think I'll just have the end of the can welded down to 28mm and not use any baffles at all. Unless somebody has any good arguments why build one after all?

I lost my baffle twice in Finland and finally in Ukraine. Had a new one made in Greece. Lost it already on a motorway in Istanbul :). Made a new one in Cappadocia and this time used two strong 12.9 bolts above and below which did last quite a while until the vibration started banging the bolt around the hole, making it bigger and eventually almost opening the hole to the edge of the aluminum. Then wrapped some steel wire through the hole and the baffle and later on had to use a bungee rope to pull that wire frontward and preventing it from coming out :-).

I've had some other problems with it as well. Had I known the X-Racing can was that bad, I would have used more money and bought the one OTR is selling.

Mine's fine although the baffle needs a more robust fixing.

I have just re-packed mine with this stuff: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acoustafil...item1c2e89d69c

Need to get the bike re-assembled and go for a ride to expand it all but the stuffing that came out was shot!

I've had this can three years and it was the only one availble back then (excluding the stupid money OTR jobbie that must be made of Ti!).

Now of course we have the MTC cans which look ace and great value - that's what I'll get if I need another one.

Most importantly I have not heard another Tenere that sounds as good as mine!!
