how much for a new set of Tourance

my local tyre fitter just quoted me 220 for a pair of OE Tourances to fit loose wheels on the 660z.
Ive just been on blackcircles and they can do the same tyres for 133 delivered.
another guy will fit & balance them for 10 each.
Am I missing something or is some one trying to rip me off ?

Someone's trying to rip you off.

Let's have their name and we'll all avoid them.

Easy enough to fit in your garage with the right tyre levers.

Posiden 12-10-12 22:44

So does the black circles price look reasonable?

enduro374 12-10-12 22:46

Been a while since I bought any tyres, but from memory I think ~80 for a rear and ~50 for a front sounds about right - they're hardly hi tech sports tyres.. so yes in my opinion.

Posiden 12-10-12 22:56

Cheers for the reply

Thanks for that. im not desperate for tyres yet but will buy some and stick them in the garage.
Yeah local dealer whom have purchased from over 20 years has really started to take the p@ss.

Hes getttin the f..kin arm in ,130 sounds about right .I can get a guy to come to the house remove the wheels ,fit and balance and stick the wheels back in for 130 :smilies0346:

Pleiades 13-10-12 13:38

At Openeo 123 the pair including free delivery...

Rear 69 - http://www.oponeo.co.uk/moto-tyre-de...-rear-tt-m-c-g

Front 54 - http://www.oponeo.co.uk/moto-tyre-de...-54-s-front-tt

:wtfk: 220! I think your tyre people are extracting the urine!

Fit and balance for 10 a wheel is pretty good (although it is free if you DIY ;) )

tripletom 13-10-12 17:59

130/5 seems to be the ballpark figure for most tyres for the Tenere loose. My local place is 10 to fit and balance per wheel. I normally take the rear to him and do the front myself. Done the rears in the past and just can't be arsed anymore.

tyred

cheers for the replys.
ive phoned a few places today and the prices vary wildly.
I also looked at the Dunlop Trailmax and got prices ranging from 145 to nearly 200!
A certain dealer who is advertised as the cheapest in the UK was a bus ride off a competitive price and was told so, but wouldnt do a better deal!
If I can get the tourances for 123 I will have a set.
many thanks chaps.

Tired

I ended up getting a pair of dunlop trailmax from oponeo ( thanks for the link.)
152 delivered and 22 to get fitted at Camskill ( who were actually cheaper than oponeo !)
I was weary of reports of fake tyres coming from poland etc. but i think the tyres are fine.
Will see how we get on with the dunlops over winter.

Are they the old school Trailmax or the Trailmax TR91 radial version?

Posiden 27-10-12 22:59

Tyres

Nope there the old school ones. The new ones are more expensive ( by 25 ish)
Try Camskill for a price - 01946 694794

I've just finished off a set off the new TR91 type. Very good road only tyre, but going back to TKC80 next. The one you've got is more of a dual purpose tyre. Funny enough I don't actually know of anyone who has ever tried the standard Trailmax, so it would be interesting to hear some feedback when you've done a few miles.

Tyres

I will report back when i done a few miles on them.
Surely someone on here must have used them before.......?
As i said above my commute to work is along some very minor road and the recent flash floods we have had, plus farmer palmer leaving some of his field on the road doesnt make for good traction, especially using a road biased tyre.
I was using a DRZ400 SM last year with dunlop mutants on and they were very good. Hopefully the trailmax will see me safely through the winter!

probably a bit late but I just got a set of Metz tourance for my tenere where I rode in and the guy does all the work. got radial tyres (I think) which has a harder construction meaning a longer lasting mileage. total cost 160. the cross ply tyres where about 10 cheaper.

this was from Charles hursts tyres in Belfast

Dunlop trialmax update

I can't even remember when I fitted these tyres ( think it was at about 2900 miles) and I've now got 5000 miles on the bike.
The rear has probably got about 500 miles left in it but the front looks fine for another 3000 miles.
I can't fault the dunlops as they've been really good through the winter on frost, mud, rain and even ice.
I will put another Dunlop on he rear soon to match the front but might try something else after that.
Has any one any tried the Metzeler Karoo 3 or Sahara
