Puncture problem
 

Hi Folks, Quick question, has anybody had problems with fitting an Avon Distanzia to the front of their Tenere. I had one fitted on Saturday and have had 2 punctures so far. I think the tyre and tube are creeping around the rim and ripping the valve away from the tube. I have still to confirm this as the first time the tyre place threw the tube away before I could check and I need to take the tyre off for the second time.

The punctures only occur after 150 - 180 miles and there's no objects in the tyre. On the sidewall, it says that if fitting a tubeless tyre to a tube type rim fit a tube, so I thought it would be OK.

N.B. I've had no problem with the rear Distanzia

Hi, As i described previously somewhere on here, the Distanzias were a bas**rd to get on at a garage with a tyre machine with 3 people involved so they are as tight as you can get with a Tube, after they were fitted i realised that there was no way id be able to fix punctures at the roadside and i was very worried about a puncture occuring because of the tightness and inability to change at roadside however ive not long been back from Europe (Spain & France) and have covered circa 4.5k with no issues at all and the tyres have just started to look like they are used!, i had to resort to getting Green Flag cover incase of said punctures but so far (Sods Law) i have not had any issues, i can only surmise that due to the tight fitting that perhaps it hasnt been seated properly and is now causing issues, it would be great if Avon made Distanzias specifically for the XTZ as they are fantastic tyres.

I remember the tyre place saying the rear was a nightmare to fit too. Problem is, I commute 120 miles a day so the bike has to be reliable, so I may just but another Michelin Sirac, which I assume is a tubed type tyre and standard fitment. As mentioned, I've had no issue with the rear distanzia or the one before it. I do however know the AA number off by heart now:icon_razz:

Problem solved:-) There was a thin metal-like sticker on the inside of the tyre that was chafing the tube.

Classic mistake not to check the inside of the tyre when repairing punctures.
I've been using Full Bore USE tyres all year. Work fine and cheap too. Price changes depending when I look on internet. I paid 100 for a pair and then they dropped to 80 for a pair so I bought two pairs! Rear is just about shot now. Fitted them earlier in the year before my trip to France, front is still good. I do over 1k a north just to work and back so mileage is good too.
